“If it’s a smart and professional DJ you’re looking for, you won’t get any better than Ian. Nothing is too much trouble and it’s a pleasure to work with him.”
A. Hutcheson, The Cults Hotel
Got time for a story?
There’s nothing like knowing the person behind a business, after all…
Re-rewind…
I had my first taste of DJ life as a student, working part-time in The Queen’s Hotel in Aberdeen. The then-resident DJ, San Fran Disco (what a great name!) let me try my hand and, ultimately, I joined the team. Ambitious and entrepreneurial at heart, this whetted my appetite for setting up on my own.
Born to run
Launched in 1981, Touch of Class quickly became Aberdeen’s number one mobile disco with 12 DJs, 10 sets of gear and lots of requests from the Granite City’s premier venues. Plus, I was regularly asked to disco for other DJs at their own special functions – the ultimate accolade.
Back to life, back to reality
My full-time teaching career took over and I sold the disco business… But I couldn’t resist keeping my hand in, so continued to DJ for Touch of Class and anyone else who asked.
Let’s go round again
I still loved being a DJ and now had a specific vision – the seed was sown to start up all over again in Aberdeen in 2001. But it wasn’t about growth this time. It was about quality, reliability, and the personal touch. Un1que Disco was born, with strong links to the number one.
One DJ, one booking per night and one point of contact
In other words, you’ll find I take sole responsibility for every single aspect of your event. Rest assured there will be no detail overlooked, no matter how small. After all, you need to be on that dancefloor, enjoying yourself!
“Personal and genuine professionalism at all times. Can’t recommend Ian enough. The service is second to none.”
Peter Walker, formerly of Meldrum House Hotel
